The ISO 9001 Standard is used to assure the highest levels of quality of an organization’s processes and systems.  Quality assurance, or QA, refers to a program that utilizes systematic monitoring and evaluation of the various aspects of a project, service, or facility to ensure that standards of quality are being met.  The ISO 9001 standard includes a set of guidelines that cover all key processes in ANY business of ANY size.  Although the standard was originated primarily for manufacturing, the requirements are applicable to all types of organizations because  a “product”, as it relates to ISO, means a tangible item, a service, or software.

An organization that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001 may publicly state that it is “ISO 9001 certified” or “ISO 9001 registered”.
